PDM (Product Data Management)
CAPTURING YOUR EXPERTICE AND DESIGN STANDARDS

There are a number of benefits for having an efficient PDM system in place. For example, your products could be shipped off to another continent where a component may fail..... With a correctly revisioned managed drawing that component can be re-manufactured without reverse engineering.
As your database grows developing a new product becomes quicker as we pull on your stored knowledge base. From a CAD point of view we can effectively "cut and paste" sub assembly's and parts from an existing product. By using revision managed design data, any teething problems found in the first time round would have been removed.
There are a number of PDM systems available that can automate the processes involved, such as security, revision management, CAD interfaces and searching. Currently we utilize microsoft's Live Mesh, with a certain amount of diligence this storage facility is completely free for commercial use and is accessible any ware in the would through a WEB portal or it can synchronize data
straight to your desktop. All you need to sign into is a Microsoft live ID and you get 5GB of storage. Visit www.mesh.com for more info.
